<reviewbody>First off, this movie was made on-the-cheap, and there are many mistakes in it. So what?

"Carnival of Souls" is an influential piece of movie-making, and is rumored to have given George Romero a couple of ideas for "Night of the Living Dead."

No gore, no huge shocks...but its eeriness builds throughout the running time. Many of today's viewers will see the ending coming, but I like to think it "wowed" them way back then.

And don't be surprised if you find yourself loving it or hating it; "Carnival of Souls" usually elicits one or the other extreme reaction.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Okay, the cinematography isn't all that great, but it's still a moody, atmospheric chiller that, if trimmed down to half an hour, would have made a great Twilight Zone episode. That said, it's a thoroughly enjoyable film that succeeds mainly on its ability to allow the viewer to sympathize with the heroine.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>This moves, feels and sounds like a nightmare. It is perfect for late night viewing. Prepare to be scared!(kids maybe, adults...not so much)</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Hard to believe this film not only was released to theaters, but in the film THE BLOB its one of the films listed on the marquee! Even then people knew this film was different.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>The dance hall featured in this film really exists. It's located on the Great Salt Lake not far from Salt Lake City. Just as the padre in the film states, it was abandoned when the lake level fell. I don't know if it was ever a carnival, tho. I give this film 5 stars for sheer spookiness. </reviewbody>
